The Picture-Postcard Fishing Villages of Reine, Nusfjord, and Hamnøy

Enjoy the panoramic views of Hellvika Bay, with the spire of Stamsund Kirke thrusting into view on your left and the picturesque sight of the fishing village of Stamsund on your right.

This was when a British commando raid was launched against the Nazi occupying force, resulting in 228 Germans being captured and, more importantly, the seizure of a set of rotor wheels for an Enigma machine and its code books from a German ship.

Discover the story of sustainable food production at the Lofoten Seafood Center in Mortsund. There’s an interesting exhibition on the salmon life cycle and salmon farming, as well as conventional fisheries.
You can also visit the centre's House of Stockfish, seeing – and smelling – Lofoten’s oldest surviving food tradition.
Buy one of the seafood baguettes that are available at the centre, providing an ideal early lunch, or a takeaway so that you can enjoy them at one of your next scenic stops.

Take in the panoramic Atlantic Ocean views from the appealing beach at Vikten. Take note that the tiny hamlet of Vikten also boasts of having Nordland's oldest glass-blowing hut, which was established in the 1970s.

Relish the stunning Morpheus Beach at the head of the fjord. If you visit when the tide is out, you’ll see the beach stretch out before you, perfectly framed by high mountains either side.

Leave your vehicle in the car park and prepare to explore the lovely little village of Nusfjord.

Evidence of human settlement on this site has been found from over 2500 years ago, but today's village contains eye-catching boathouses, a smithy, and a smokehouse, as well as quaint and colourful houses.

Leave your vehicle and stretch your legs, walking along the wooden sleeper path until you reach the white beach and the azure sea that laps upon its shores. Let this beautiful scene wash over you.

Take time to discover the isolated village of Fredvang, connected only by a narrow bridge to the rest of the island of Moskenesøya. Well appreciated for the many great hikes that surround the village, as well as the jagged peaks and fjord that frame it, Fredvang is a stunning destination.

The ideal place to discover a unique souvenir of your Lofoten trip, the blacksmith of Sund has a range of striking metal sculptures for sale. The blacksmith has also operated as a museum since 1964 and is a fabulous attraction from which to learn about metalwork and local history.
