Named the Queen of Soul Food, Sylvia's will dazzle your taste buds with soul food classics. You cannot go wrong at this neighbourhood staple, with wings, chicken and waffles, or fried fish; plus, the sides are all delectable. With reasonable prices, plentiful portions, and loads of charm, your only difficulty will be saving room for all the other food on your trip!

The Bruce Museum is a very neat coastal education centre housed in an architecturally beautiful building. With art, science, and natural history, the museum features many wonderful and rotating exhibits. Here, you’ll get to learn more about the Long Island Sound, and the beautiful Northeastern coast more generally.
Please note that the Bruce is currently constructing a new museum that will be open in early 2023; until then, only the permanent science exhibits are open.
A beach pass is required to get to the Bruce.

Time for a Connecticut coastal gem. The Wakeman Town Farm is a beautiful place to immerse yourself in food, cooking, and farming. With a slew of events throughout the year, Wakeman is a culinary gathering place for locals. If you can arrange your trip to include a cooking class, book it!

Looking for that classic autumnal experience? Visit Silverman's Farm to pick apples and berries, buy products grown right there, and visit animals. This popular spot for picking your own fruits and veggies is a perfect American experience, and you’ll have a hard time not buying all the fresh food and treats! They also run tractor rides in the fall.

After the farm experience, you’re going to head to a modern coastal bar for a quick happy hour drink! Carlson’s Landing is a beautifully designed restaurant and bar with excellent cocktails and seafood. Have a small plate of oysters with your drinks before heading to your next stop for dinner.

While this route doesn't have you eating at Mystic Pizza, the actual spot that inspired the famous Julia Roberts movie, it’s still worth a short stop to check it out. The local hotspot in the small town of Mystic has solid pizza if you’re craving it, but the history of the spot makes it a fun quick trip.

Now it's time for the main course. The Shipwright's Daughter is a beautiful modern restaurant with an interior that feels coastal and classy. The food is fantastic. With Long Island Sound staples such as oysters, fresh vegetables, and other seafood, you’ll enjoy the contemporary take on tried and true dishes.
Dinner is served from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday to Thursday, and 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Reservations are recommended and can be made here.

Now you’ll cross one more state border into Rhode Island to stay at one of the finest hotels in the East. The Chanler at Cliff Walk is housed in a gorgeous Newport cottage built in the late 1800s. The historical building has hosted many famous guests and, once you stay, you’ll be able to see why!
