    Artists` Village

"Sokol" (also known as the "artist's village") is the first cooperative residential settlement in Moscow, founded in 1923.
The village "Sokol" became one of the incarnations of the concept of the city-garden. Since 1979, the village is under the protection of the state as a monument to the town planning of the first years of Soviet power.
The architects of the village "Sokol" realized the concept of "city-garden" popular in the beginning of the 20th century. The idea of settlement, which would combine the best properties of the city and village, was put forward by the British Ebenezer Howard in 1898. Already in 1903, a project for the construction of a similar garden city on the Khodynka field in Moscow appeared. This project was worked out for some time, but the events of 1914-1917 prevented its implementation.
In the late 1980s, commercial activity began to develop in the country. At the same time, there was little money allocated for the maintenance of the village. Then the residents organized a structure to earn money for the maintenance of the village, the "Sokol" agency. The Agency brought profit from the work performed on a contractual basis. His income has repeatedly exceeded the amount allocated by the district executive committee. To ensure that residents can more effectively solve territorial issues, on July 14, 1989, a territorial public self-government was established in the village.
In our time, real estate in the village is worth tens and even hundreds of millions of rubles.

    Staryy Angliyskiy Dvor

The monument of civil architecture of the XV-XVII centuries, the residence of the English trading company of Moscow, and during the ambassadorial missions - the English Embassy House.
These white-stone residential chambers appeared in the 15th century and belonged to the postman Ivan Bobrishchev, also known under the nickname "Yushka". Since the latter, apparently, did not leave heirs behind, in the next century the building became public and was rebuilt somewhat.
October 18, 1994 the grand opening of the museum "English Compound", which became a branch of the Museum of the History of Moscow. The Queen of Great Britain Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip, who were on an official visit to Russia these days, took personal part in the opening of the museum.
Concerts of ancient music are held regularly in the grand hall of the Old English Court - the Government Chamber.

    The Egg House

In 1998, architect Sergei Tkachenko developed an egg-shaped building project for the maternity hospital in Bethlehem, but they rejected the idea. Then this house was intended to be built on Patriarch's Ponds, but there the architect also failed to realize his plan. As a result, the house was decided to build on Mashkov Street as an extension to a new multi-storey house.
The construction of the house went hard. First, at that time our builders did not fully master all the subtleties of such structures, and secondly it was not easy to get all the necessary approvals. As a result, the house, which is actually an extension, in accompanying documents for 1999 appears as "the reconstruction of a 2-3-storey building with the construction of an 8-storey extension and a wing with a total area of 6472.3 square meters. M with an underground car park for 34 cars.
Here is such a "curiosity" from the beginning of the two thousandths. By the way, the house could not sell for a long time and it seems as though till now he did not find the owner. The cost is more than 300 million rubles.
