The Glorious Glens of the Highlands

Discover one of Scotland's newest whisky distilleries in the quaint little village of Deanston. Hosted in a converted cotton mill, Deanston Distillery was established in 1965, using the fast-flowing River Teith as its own power source, as well as providing a unique taste to its popular whiskies.
Take the Distillery Morning Tour to fully appreciate the whisky-making process and understand the subtleties of creating Scotland's national drink. You will also have the chance to sample one of Deanston's signature whiskies (drivers will be given their samples in a container to enjoy at their leisure later).
The tour will depart just after 10:00 a.m., so ensure that you arrive at the distillery as soon as it opens.

One of the most romantic Scottish heroes (and notorious outlaw!) is buried in the graveyard at Balquhidder Kirk. Rob Roy MacGregor lies beside his wife and his two sons, with a small graveside memorial to the memory of this cattle rustler and fugitive from the English.
The grave can be accessed via a narrow trail on your left as you walk from the car park up the main path to the church.

The Falls of Dochart Inn is set within a historic 17th-century blacksmith's house, offering tempting Scottish dishes, using locally sourced produce.
Try a venison dish, or perhaps some of the delicious black pudding (blood sausage) or locally caught salmon, for a genuine taste of Scotland.
Once you’ve finished your delectable meal, stretch your legs and explore the stunning Falls of Dochart, which flow just in front of the Inn.

Stop at this roadside viewpoint to experience stunning views over Loch Tulla, as well as appreciating your entrance into the desolate, but awe-inspiring, wilderness of Rannoch Moor.

Enjoy a stop at this viewpoint and admire the eastern entrance of the phenomenal Glencoe, a valley whose dramatic and harsh scenery is matched only by its tragic human histories.

Take a short detour from Glencoe into the equally stunning Glen Etive, along what is often termed Scotland's most beautiful road.
Flanked by picturesque mountains like Buachaille Etive Mòr and Bidean nam Bian, avail yourself of the superlative scenery that was used as filming locations for the likes of James Bond's “Skyfall” and Mel Gibson's “Braveheart”.
If you find yourself ahead of schedule on your tour, feel free to carry on further into this valley, which eventually terminates at the head of Loch Etive. Otherwise, make a U-turn and head back to Glencoe.

Take in the glory of Glencoe at this stunning viewpoint. Take time to appreciate this landscape, thrust up by tumultuous volcanic activity then carved open by monolithic glaciers, stretching almost eight miles west, yet less than half a mile wide.

Take a moment at this viewpoint to fully appreciate the impressive peaks of Aonach Dubh, Beinn Fhada, and Gearr Aonach, also known as the Three Sisters.

Take time at the Glencoe Visitor Centre to discover the secrets of Glencoe's geology, as well as its human stories, especially the massacre of the Clan MacDonald.
This recently refurbished, eco-friendly visitor centre offers excellent facilities to travellers, including a well-appointed canteen, as well as an excellent exhibition on the glen's millions of years of history.
Please note that the centre closes at 5:00 p.m.

View the impressive engineering masterpiece that is Neptune's Staircase. This set of eight locks elevates the Caledonian Canal that connects Loch Linnhe, through the Great Glen and Loch Ness and onto the Moray Firth at Inverness.
This set of locks was built between 1803 and 1822, by the genius engineer Thomas Telford, and is the longest staircase lock in Britain.
