I've ridden horseback across India's Thar desert at midnight, walked the Serengeti with nothing but a fold up tent and a Masai guide, and climbed 6,000 feet up a jungle-covered mountain in Uganda to sit beside a 220-pound gorilla while she lunched on low-hanging leaves.
