    Banneker-Douglass Museum

The Banneker-Douglass Museum, named for Benjamin Banneker and Frederick Douglass, preserves African-American heritage and serves as Maryland's official repository for African-American material culture.
This powerful and thought-inducing museum offers insight into the impacts of slavery in the region and the courageous resisters who fought back. Slavery is just as much part of America's history as anything else and, when visiting historical sites, especially on this trip, it is important to remember the shrouded systemic issues America was built on. You’ll also learn about unsung African-American historical figures who made lasting changes and explorations for America today.
