Discovering Svolvær, Kabelvåg, and Henningsvær

Discover the handsome Vågan Church, which was consecrated in October 1898. Also known as the Lofoten Cathedral, it is the largest church in Northern Norway and was actually a timber, prefabricated design.

Enjoy the view from the little hamlet of Brenna, looking out across the waters of the Norwegian Sea to the island of Gimsøya and to the small village of Gimsøysand.

Stop at Gimsøy Church to look back across the Norwegian Sea to the hamlet of Brenna, which you have just visited. Take note of the attractive little wooden church, which was consecrated in 1876 and has 300 seats.

Stop at the farm to enjoy the views of the beach and Norwegian Sea from the northern coast of Gimsøya Island. Treat yourself to coffee and cake at Låven Restaurant at the farm, and contemplate this historic little settlement, which was once a seat of a Viking chieftain a thousand years before.

Before leaving the island of Gimsøya behind, take one last look at this little paradise from the viewpoint on the other side of the bridge.

Take a little time at this car park, which is a popular starting point for climbers, to fully appreciate the fine mountains that surround the beautiful green waters of Djupfjorden.

Take a moment to stop on the tiny island of Engøya. Admire the view of the alluring archipelago that surrounds the little fishing village of Henningsvær, which has been made famous by the view of its football field.

Enjoy the views of Henningsvær, which is perfectly framed by the Festvågtind peak stretching up over 500 metres behind the village.

Return to your car and prepare to drive to Kabelvåg.

Continue your exploration of Lofoten's art scene by making a visit to the Galleri Espolin. Discover the works of artist Kaare Espolin Johnson, who was heavily influenced by the local coastal scenery and folk life.

Enjoy the beautiful view of Kabelvåg harbour from the shore and walk out along the breakwater for a different perspective.
