Traditions and Nature: Food, Ships, and Hikes

Today, you’ll warm up with two small hikes: one just outside Bergen and the other one in Folgefonna National Park, where you’ll see a glacier. Also, two ways to approach traditions in Norway: one with local food and other with ship’s craftsmen.

It is a work of cultural preservation that you can observe first hand.

You have to take a small detour to go to this restaurant, but it’s worth it. Everything smells and feels traditional in this restaurant, located in a wood cabin from 1810. Here you’ll feel Norwegian for a while!
The owner himself serves the food in this rustic family restaurant. His hospitality will make you feel completely at home. The food is homemade with local products, of course.
You have to book in advance, so don't forget to do so – here is the official website, or you can call +4797168511 and fix the arrival with the owner.
If this restaurant is closed, you can have lunch at Øvreviken Pizzeria; the food is international and really nice, but the best thing about it is the stunning views of the fjord.

The walk as much as the lake has an unreal beauty. It’s a really easy walk, and it’s very well signposted.
If you feel like walking more, you can go to the other side of the lake, from which you can see a waterfall, a sand beach, and the glacier a bit closer.
