Hiking the Trolltunga: The Troll’s Tongue

Today, you’re going to do one of the most famous and amazing hikes in Norway: you’ll visit the Trolltunga, or the Troll's Tongue, in English. It will take the entire day, so get ready for a day in nature: water, food, good hiking shoes, and this is Norway, so don't forget your raincoat!
The season when you can hike to Trolltunga by yourself runs from June to September. During the rest of the months, there’s a lot of snow and bad weather, and it’s not safe to walk without a guide.

If this is one of the most famous hikes, it is because it has an impeccable beauty.
The hike is not difficult and, all along the way, you can enjoy amazing views and landscapes. The nature in Norway is breathtaking, so don’t be obsessed with the end – enjoy the way.
If the weather is awful – raining, for example – and you need a plan B, you can go to visit the Norwegian Museum of Hydropower and Industry.
You also can go to Odda, with lovely views, a vibrant town centre, and nice coffee shops. At the Sentralbadet litteraturhus, you’ll find the cultural centre of the town. You can have lunch there at Fjoren, where you can taste Norwegian cuisine.
