Secret North Florida Stops on the Way to the State Capital

Get all fuelled up for a long day of touring at the Urban Bean Coffeehouse just south of Jacksonville. With terrific coffee and generous breakfast portions, this stop will prepare you for the day ahead. Check out one of their awesome breakfast sandwiches or a flatbread.
Urban Bean is open from 6:30 a.m. Monday to Saturday, and from 7:00 a.m. on Sunday.

This well-kept little state park is a nice stop along your way through Northern Florida. Olustee Battlefield is the state's very first historic site, and it was the location of Florida's largest Civil War battle. The free location has an interpretive exhibit, a short walking trail, and plenty of history.
The park is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.

Though a well-known stop among locals, Suwannee Springs still surprises tourists with its unique and natural beauty. With a super comfortable year-round water temperature, and plenty of recreation opportunities, these former bathhouse ruins are a must-visit on the way through Live Oak.
The springs are open from sunrise to sunset daily.

The Florida Capitol is much different-looking than many other states’. Because of the consistent growth of the state, the legislative body kept outgrowing their buildings, and so the blend of architectural styles reveals the additions made to the political centre of the state.
While you can only visit the interior Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the exterior is well worth walking around to view its strange construction. More information about visits here.
