Cobblestones, Castles, and Fairy Tales

After breakfast at your hotel, start your day with a stroll around Tübingen's old town and along the Neckar River (leave your car in the hotel car park and walk two minutes on foot to the town square). Explore the old castle across from the hotel, walk to the Marktplatz to see what's available at the farmers’ market or local boutiques, then step inside the impressive Gothic St Georg Cathedral.

Leave your car at the Schönbuchturm car park, located a short walk from the tower.

Make a brief stop to climb the 35-metre-high Schönbuchturm tower for sweeping views of the local area from the observation deck.

After climbing the tower, walk back to your car and carry on to the next destination.

This 18th-century Baroque palace is the perfect place to stop to stretch your legs on your way to the Fairy Tale Route. Leave your car in the castle car park and explore the gardens (open and accessible all day) and break for a quick lunch featuring fresh local specialties at the castle café.

On your way to the Fairy Tale Route, take a short break at the Wachenburg for panoramic views of the town of Weinheim and the Rhine Valley below.

You're now on the Fairy Tale Route! If you've ever enjoyed a Grimms’ fairy tale, you'll definitely want to make a short stop at the Brüder-Grimm-Haus in Steinau. With period furnishings, this small historic house will show you what life was like when the Brothers Grimm lived here.

Before reaching your final destination for the evening, take a stroll through the quaint fairy-tale town of Alsfeld. After parking in the Hinter der Mauer car park, walk a few minutes to the old town to enjoy the half-timbered houses in the Marktplatz.
